The Significance of Feast of Tabernacles
Session One: Part One of The Feast of the Ages, A Messianic Musical

As we approach the fall season, we are nearing the appointed time for the Feast of Tabernacles or Succot - the Feast of Booths. So it is appropriate that we do a study of this all important prophetic celebration. For over 30 years, as a Messianic Family, my wife and I have put on decades of celebrations of this yearly Feast that have ranged from modest private gatherings to outdoor venues and regional events that have attracted over 1000 people. We have also had the privilege of ministering at the Feast of Tabernacles Celebration held by the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem (ICEJ) in front of over 5,000.

The ICEJ was founded by masterful musicians and singers, Merv and Merla Watson, who pioneered the celebration of The Feast of Tabernacles in Jerusalem in September, 1980. (see https://int.icej.org/history) Believers continue to come year after year to worship as international guests in the City of the Great King. The Watson’s played a foundational role in my understanding of the Mystery of Israel as they were sent out from the Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, based church, Fraserview Assembly, where I had interned as a Bible College student. Their Friday night Shabbat services were truly an outstanding wave of the Spirit at that season of the Charismatic Movement. Over the years we have participated in events put on by the Watson’s and they have actually ended up singing at a few of our events.

The celebration of the Feast of Tabernacles has shaped our ministry in a profound way. Ultimately, the years of being steeped in this revelation culminated in the writing and producing of a Messianic Musical entitled “The Feast of the Ages”. It was first put on as a live stage performance at Succot in the Fall of 2000 and then later remounted at the Crossroads Broadcast Center in Burlington, Ontario (Home of Canada’s premier daily Christian TV show 100 Huntley St., where I worked as the Promotions Coordinator for 7 years) as requested by the founder Rev. David Mainse. The musical production was promoted on 100 Huntley St. for a run of 2 months during the following summer and was enjoyed by audiences who packed the auditorium.

And so we are pleased to use this touching original musical as a teaching tool to present to you the Significance of the Feast of Tabernacles. Rich with scripture, we are breaking this production down into bite sized segments where you can read the scriptures that the script was based on and meditate on the relevance of the heart of the Word of God. As an introduction to the The KingsBridge Study Center, we invite you to take in this first session, free of charge, but hope you will be inspired to join our membership (fees are $20 USD per month) and continue on with our Virtual Study Hall.
Click here to enroll. Of course, the DVD with its companion CD of the lovely songs performed in this musical are available in our Messianic Marketplace. By the time you have completed these sessions, we will have covered every moment of the production, but it’s OK if you get ahead of the class and watch the entire DVD in advance!

As you take in this first study session, please take a moment and pray. Ask the Lord to speak to you by His Spirit as He will touch your heart and reach your soul beyond simply your intellect.

Blessings,

Michael-David

Welcome to Israel Academy and the first study as a part of The KingsBridge Study Center. This is a sample of the teaching that you will receive here in this Virtual Study Hall, as we search out the Mystery of Israel week by week.

To some the paradigm of the Mystery of Israel is just one facet of the Kingdom of God. Truthfully, God’s plan of salvation was, in fact, revealed to the world entirely through the Jewish people, specifically as divinely inspired authors of the Bible. So one could say that this mystery - this  “gem” in the treasure that is the Kingdom of God, is not just one aspect of God’s revelation to the world, but is actually the very setting that this gem is set in.

If we fail to understand the significance of the Mystery of Israel we will not be able to rightly divide the Word of Truth
(2 Timothy 2:15). That is why it is so important to grasp this topic as it is foundational to our understanding of God. The scripture that is highlighted in the banner on our home page is Romans 11:25-27...

25 For I do not desire, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own opinion, that blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. 26 And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written: “The Deliverer will come out of Zion, And He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob; 27 For this is My covenant with them, When I take away their sins.”

There is a tendency when one is ignorant of the truth concerning the mystery of Israel, that in a spirit of pride, we become “wise in our own opinion”. This error has given rise to the theology that God has somehow cast off Israel and has replaced her with the Church. (see Romans 11:1 and the rest of the chapter) We will deal with this topic directly in future studies.

So it is with great pleasure that we launch into this study of the Mystery of Israel. We pray that the eyes of your understanding and your heart will be opened to the wonders of God’s love as revealed through His dealings with His “Chosen People” Israel.

Opening Song: Feast of the Ages Overture

Come celebrate the Feast of the Ages
It has been foretold by the prophets and sages
It is a saga of love tears and pain
About a Holy Bridegroom who is coming again

There’s a table set in the wilderness
The redeemed of the nations are the invited guests
Here unfolds a mystery a most amazing thing
These gentiles and Israel will be married to their King

Lift up heads O Jerusalem
Here comes your King open your gates to Him
He is your Messiah the Anointed One
He is your Beloved, Yeshua God’s only Son

Come celebrate the Feast of the Ages
It has been foretold by the prophets and sages
It is a saga of love tears and pain
About a Holy Bridegroom who is coming again

Scene One: Moses says farewell to Joshua and the Daughter of Zion

Please follow in your Bible:
1.   Deuteronomy 31:2-3
2.   Deuteronomy 31:7-8
3.   Deuteronomy 31:10-11

Pause the video...
and read Exodus 23:31 (if you Google... “Bible boundaries of Israel” - search under ‘image’ you may be shocked!)
then read Leviticus 23 then

Resume the video...

4.   Moses summarizes the Feasts of the Lord from Leviticus 23
- Write down the 7 Feasts of the Lord?...
I. ___________________  II. ___________________  III.  ___________________  IV. ___________________
V  ___________________  VI.  ___________________  VII. ___________________

5.   Moses concludes at Leviticus 23:43
6.   Joshua asks when the children of Israel is to gather – Moses answers “3 times” and references Deuteronomy 16:16 (see also Exodus 23:17 and 34:23)

Pause the video...

The 3 major Feasts of the Lord which required the Children of Israel to appear before the Lord in Jerusalem, are:

I. Passover (in the Spring), which finds its prophetic fulfillment in the Last Supper and the New Covenant (Jeremiah 31:31) and the death and resurrection of Jeshua our Messiah. (This Feast to be discuss in another Study Session)

II. Pentecost (50 days later) is the feast that celebrates the ingathering of the first of the harvest and finds its prophetic fulfillment in the birth of the Church when the Holy Spirit was first poured out. (This Feast to be discuss in another Study Session)

III. The Feast of Tabernacles which has not yet had its prophetic fulfillment. This study will look deeply into the significance of its meaning. At this point, however, we can say that it is the celebration of the ingathering of the last of the harvest and it will find its fulfillment as the last of the End Times Harvest of the souls of men. (see Amos 9:11-13)

Resume the video...

7.    The Daughter of Zion asks: “I wonder if there is a meaning in all these Feasts and their times. The first feasts are all in the Spring, the last feasts are all in the Fall... there is a long empty summer... do you think it means something? Surely the Lord God Almighty would not just randomly pick a date. Surely there is some sort of picture here, perhaps a plan."

Pause the video...

This question of the “long empty summer” can be addressed by suggesting that this time period prophetically represents the “Church Age” when the harvest grows to its fullness to be reaped at the End of the Age. The redemption bought for us through the Passion of Messiah at Passover, and the birthing and empowerment of the Church at the beginning of the “spring” era represent the start of God’s plan of redemption for the world. However, its fullness comes at the end of the “summer” age when the last of the harvest of souls is reaped. It is important to understand that this is the age that we are in so that we will not miss the day of our visitation (Luke 19:44). It is this hope of the Lord of the Harvest’s soon return that motivates us to live a life that is worthy of what He has called us to in all holiness. (1 John 3:3)

Resume the video...

8.   Moses speaks Deuteronomy 29:29 The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law.

Here there is a wonderful sense of promise that even though there is a Mystery that surrounds our awesome God, there is the hope that as His children we can receive revelation that makes it possible to understand and walk in obedience to His Word.

9.   Moses departs and leaves a blessing (see Deuteronomy 32:48)
10.   “The LORD bless you and keep you; The LORD make His face shine on you and be gracious to you; The LORD lift up His face on you and give you peace.” ( Numbers 6:24-26)
11.   Joshua proclaims: Joshua 1:8-11
12.   The Daughter of Zion sings...

Father of the Faithful

Father of the faithful lead Your people home
For You have led us with a strong hand
And have brought us to the Promise Land
The Feasts You have given by Your command
That we might understand – Your plan

Father of the faithful lead Your people home

The secret things belong to You
And those revealed to us and our children too
Will be ours forever that we might do
All the words of this law and prove they are true

Father of the faithful lead Your people home

Both life and death are set before us
Curse or blessing you will pour on us
But with all our hearts Oh Lord we trust
That Your way is good and Your Word is just

Father of the faithful lead Your people home
